Andız’ın (Inula helenium) pankreas kanseri, anaplastik tiroit ca,meme kanseri, akciğer kanseri osteosarkom,özefagus kanseri, multiple myelom, over kanseri, hepatoselüler karsinom ve glial tümörlere karşı antitümör etkinliği vardır.
Inula helenium is a traditional herb reported to have antifungal, anti-bacterial, anti-helmintic and anti-proliferation activities. There is evidence that alantolactone (ALT), a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from Inula helenium, plays a negative role in inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress. Alantolactone and isoalantolactone isolated from Inula helenium and its roots cause effective and selective apoptosis of cancer cells by targeting multiple cellular signaling pathways that are frequently released in cancers. It has been shown that it may also contribute to a better response to cancer treatment by modulating immune-activating or immunosuppressive conditions in the tumor microenvironment. Inula helenium has antitumor activity against pancreatic cancer, anaplastic thyroid cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, osteosarcoma, esophageal cancer, multiple myeloma, ovarian cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and glial tumors.
