Coronary collateral development is a crucial adaptive mechanism for heart health. Collateral circulation significantly impacts clinical outcomes, particularly in ischemic heart diseases. This section will explore the key factors influencing coronary collateral development, including chest pain (angina pectoris), the extent of coronary artery occlusion, hypoxia, genetic predisposition, exercise, and medication. Furthermore, we will delve into the functional capacity and prognostic value of collateral circulation, along with its implications for clinical practice.
