Water has been used as a treatment method since ancient times. Nowadays, the importance of hydrotherapy is increasing day by day. Hydrotherapy has positive effects on many body systems such as the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and respiratory system. Today, hydrotherapy is used safely in various diseases such as osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, fibromyalgia, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and in special populations (such as the elderly and pregnant women) and causes significant improvements in parameters such as pain, function, quality of life. Although its effectiveness has been proven by numerous studies, higher quality studies are needed to elucidate the mechanisms of action.
