Theoretical foundations and mathematical formulas for calculating the accurate sample size representing population means and proportions in survey research are discussed. Critical factors such as precision of estimates, confidence levels, and population variability must be optimized to prevent resource waste and avoid erroneous results. The study details the use of t-distribution when population variance is unknown and explains how sample size can be simplified using the p=0.5 assumption in proportion estimates.
