Nursing Care of a Child With Hodgkin’s Lymphoma: a Case Report
Synopsis
Lymphoma is the most common disease among hematological cancers. There are two types of lymphomas, Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Holistic nursing care is very important for individuals diagnosed with lymphoma. Because the treatment process of lymphoma affects the individual's life in physiological, psychological, emotional and social areas. Nurses play a key role in the problems these patients experience and their compliance with treatment. It is important for nurses to use nursing models and theories to increase adaptation in individuals and provide quality and holistic care. Nursing theories and models guide the systematic progression of care by taking the individual as the focal point. The purpose of this case report is to plan and evaluate the nursing care of a pediatric patient diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in line with the Roy Adaptation Model (RAM). The Roy Adaptation Model focuses on the physiological and psychosocial adaptation of people to their environment. In this case report, the adaptation problems experienced by a pediatric patient diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and his family during the disease process were identified. The steps of the model were summarized based on patient data, and nursing interventions were implemented within the framework of the Roy Adaptation Model based on this data. It is thought that the care plan prepared will be a guide for pediatric nurses and nursing students.
